Rain and showers have affected much of the UK, whilst Western Scotland has avoided the worst so far. It has been a cold start, with snow falling over hills across England and Scotland, though conditions have generally remained frost-free. This rain will then move northwards during the evening, fragmenting into smaller areas of rain overnight.
