NORTHAMPTON - Despite ending the first quarter 12-11 in Longmeadow’s favor, Northampton girls basketball bounced back in the second, never dropping its lead in an eventual 68-56 win on Thursday night. The Blue Devils retook their lead from the Lancers in the opening minute of the second. “Just fundamentals,” Blue Devils head coach Perry Messer said to what he told his team after the first quarter. “As an upperclassman now, I want to set the example and lead,” Calkins said. The final timeout of the contest and fourth quarter was called by Allen after a foul on the Blue Devils’ Liv Joensen.
