Sage Kornreich scored a game-high 20 points as 15th-seeded Livingston defeated 18th-seeded North Star Academy, 52-47, in the preliminary round of the 79th Essex County Tournament in Livingston. Ross Perlstein had 12 points and Daniel Gbadamosi added eight for Livingston (10-4), which stormed out to a 34-14 halftime lead. Livingston plays second-seeded St. Benedict’s in the first round on Saturday. Emmanuel Yirenkui paced North Star Academy (8-9) with 14 points and four assists. Gian Campos added 11 points and five rebounds.
