DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings recalled defenseman Justin Holl and forward Sheldon Dries from the Grand Rapids Griffins just prior to Thursday’s game against the Washington Capitals. The Red Wings placed defenseman Simon Edvinsson (lower-body injury) on injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 21 in order to make room on their 23-man roster. Holl, 33, has spent the entire season in Grand Rapids, appearing in 31 games and notching two goals, 10 points and a plus-17 rating. Dries, 31, has skated in 32 games with the Griffins and has 14 goals, 14 assists and a plus-14 rating. He has spent some time with the Red Wings as a spare forward but hasn’t appeared in a game with them.
