ANN ARBOR, MI — U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib called out the University of Michigan for its response to pro-Palestine protests in about 15-degree temperatures on Thursday. He and other speakers called for UM to drop its disciplinary actions against pro-Palestine organizers. Makled represents pro-Palestine student activists at UM, specifically those who were arrested and disciplined at the spring 2024 encampment. “It is sad, it is dangerous and I’m really fearful for the student community,” Tlaib told reporters. She previously spoke at a rally at UM in defense of pro-Palestine organizers in August 2025.
