Senate has set up an ad-hoc committee to seek the opinions of senators on the Electoral Act, 2022 (Repeal and Enactment) Bill. Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced this yesterday after a closed door session. The lawmakers had, in the executive session, begun the consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters chaired by Senator Simon Lalong. The closed session was convened to allow lawmakers thoroughly examine the proposed amendments and supporting documents before engaging in further legislative debate on the bill. “The clerk of the Senate will be the secretary of this committee.”
