The church will celebrate the 150th anniversary of its current building with a special service on February 1, at 10am. It will be led by the Bishop of Manchester, the Right Reverend Dr David Walker. A spokesperson said: "On Sunday, February 1, 2026, the Bishop of Manchester, the Right Reverend Dr. David Walker, will preside and deliver the sermon at the 10:00 am service, marking the 150th anniversary of the current Parish Church. "This service launches a number of activities, including concerts, art exhibitions, and renewal of wedding vows for anyone who has been married in the Parish Church, which have been planned over the next 12 months. The first church on the site dates back to 971 A.D. and has since undergone several reconstructions.
