The owner of a sports bar in Leader, Sask., has been charged with arson with intent to defraud in connection with a fire that burned down the business.
RCMP announced on Thursday that Rajinderpal Basran of Calgary is also charged with one count of fraud over $5,000 and one count of arson with disregard for human life.
Since Oct. 26, police have been investigating the fire that destroyed Halftime Huddle in Leader, a town about 240 kilometres southwest of Saskatoon.
"I will come out of this but the mental trauma and safety of my family, safety of my people who work around, that's the most important right now," Basran said.
Basran is scheduled to appear in court in Leader on March 19.
