Picture: Bally PhilpA SCOTTISH Government investigation into alleged illegal dredging incident caught on camera in Wester Ross last year has concluded, with “no further enforcement action to be taken”. On Sunday September 28 last year, Wester Ross fisherman Bally Philp was alerted by locals about two boats that appeared to be scallop dredging in Loch Alsh — a marine protected area (MPA), and special area of conservation (SAC). “We have now concluded the investigation into fishing incursions by two scallop dredge vessels in the protected area at Kyle of Lochalsh in September,” a spokesperson said. "Illegal scallop dredging is a disaster not just for healthy seas, but for coastal communities which rely on them, yet this latest incident is proof that it continues to occur illegally with impunity.
