McKeag’s Brainerd Warriors, led by Bennett Day’s four first-place finishes, defeated Hannah (McKeag) Nelson’s Sartell Sabres 97-88 Thursday, Jan. 29, for a Central Lakes Conference victory. Day swam a first-place 48.16 in the 100 freestyle and then watched Henry McCulley finish second and Brichacek third. Day, McCulley and Brichacek teamed with Drew Haglin to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:26.28. It was Dirkes, Sumption, McCulley and Day that posted a first-place 1:31.83 in the 200 free relay. Weston Thiesse finished second in diving, while McCulley was second in the 50 free, Haglin was second in the butterfly and Tatge placed second in the breaststroke.
