The proposals affect New Road and Christchurch Road in Ferndown and West Parley, with the council seeking public feedback through a consultation running until February 20, 2026. Cllr Jon Andrews, Dorset Council’s cabinet member for place services, said: "The local community has voiced strong support for these speed limit reductions. On the A347 New Road north of Parley Cross, the speed limit would be reduced from 40mph to 30mph up to the A348 Ringwood Road. On the B3073 Christchurch Road, the 30mph limit would begin west of Barrack Road, continue through Parley Cross, and join the existing 30mph zone near Dudsbury Golf Course. South of Parley Cross, the A347 New Road from Ensbury Bridge would also see the speed limit reduced from 40mph to 30mph.
