Corfe Mullen Town Council said Report Fraud has received several reports of offenders contacting people and falsely claiming their bank accounts have been compromised or that funds are at risk. Anyone who receives such a call is advised to contact their bank immediately by dialling 159, which safely connects callers to their bank’s official customer service team. Incidents should also be reported to Report Fraud online or by calling 0300 123 2040. If contacted by someone claiming to be a police officer, residents are urged to ask for the caller’s name and collar number, then end the call. The council is encouraging residents to share the warning with family and friends, particularly those who may be more vulnerable to scams.
