The force has issued a warning to bike owners following a rise in thefts of vehicles and break-ins to sheds and garages, particularly involving motorbikes. A common theme reported by police was the belief that people think their bikes are safe because "people don’t know it’s there". A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Unfortunately, that simply isn’t the case. "We strongly encourage bike owners to use multiple layers of security. The force released a list of security advice, which includes secure sheds as well as the use of CCTV and security lighting.
