Councillor Martin Love (Green, Shipley) asked if there had been any prosecutions relating to the case – considering the amount of times illegal cigarettes were found. Jason Bethell from West Yorkshire Trading Standards said: “We don’t have the resources. “We have to fund any prosecutions through private prosecutions, and we only have a limited budget to do that. At that meeting Andy Robson from West Yorkshire Joint Services was giving an update on the work of Trading Standards. Acts like this have far more of an impact on people involved in this illegal activity.”
