Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has contacted guests due to board Balmoral in Southampton on Friday to explain that the later embarkation is needed to allow for an enhanced deep clean of the ship when it arrives in port. The company said the change is a precautionary measure aimed at protecting the health and wellbeing of passengers and crew. Olsen Cruise Lines, said: “A number of guests on board Balmoral have reported symptoms of gastrointestinal-related illness during her 10-night ‘Wintertime Landscapes of the Norwegian Fjords’ cruise. Olsen Cruise Lines has robust health, hygiene, and safety protocols in place at all times." Olsen has also confirmed that there are no planned changes to the cruise itinerary despite the later departure.
