ROCHESTER — For the first time since 1969, a Rochester school has won a Big Nine Conference wrestling title.
"I think it's a huge deal, not just for Century, but for the town, and the community wrestling in Rochester," Century coach Joel Messick said.
The Panthers set themselves up by knocking off Albert Lea and Owatonna for the first time in program history back in December.
ADVERTISEMENTThe Century wrestling program has never reached the state team wrestling tournament.
Combined, the three Rochester public schools have reached state just once as a team (Mayo, 2023).
