Fears for Queen’s Jubilee woodland in Rossendale under threat from housing plan

People in Facit, near Whitworth, want the trees in Jubilee Walk to be kept along with a footpath, Rossendale Council has been told.
Applicant Gary Jones, of Lancashire County Council, wanted to see if early ideas for homes are broadly acceptable to Rossendale Council.
Campaigners want the trees to be protectedThe land is mainly in an area allocated for new housing.
Cllr Neal, who is not on the committee, said: “Jubilee Walk has a number of trees planted in 1977 for the late Queen’s Silver Jubilee.
Rossendale Council would get much less of a share.
