Senators are proposing to extend Colorado River water recycling grants through 2032 as a long-term strategy to stretch limited water supplies.
For the last two years, Colorado River states have been locked in a bitter stalemate over their future river allocations.
To give the states a push toward consensus, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum has asked Colorado River governors to meet together in Washington, D.C., on Friday.
