The fundraiser will support repairs to the main wooden floor of Hawes Market House, which has served as a central community hub in the town of Hawes for more than a century. The Market House hosts a weekly market alongside craft fairs, concerts, exhibitions, sports, playgroups, meetings, and silver band rehearsals. Laura Dunn, manager of Hawes Market House, said: "We need to raise £700 a week just to cover running costs, so grants of this nature to help preserve the fabric of the building for future use are so important and welcome. For more information or to get involved, visit www.hawesmarkethall.co.uk, search for Hawes Market House on Facebook, or email Laura at markethousehawes@gmail.com. Hawes Market House has stood at the heart of the town’s community life for more than 100 years.
