Darlington Lions Club is funding an educational programme with The Viking Boat company to give children a history lesson with a difference alongside positive messages on mental health. The Viking Boat Company’s Chief Executive, Bob Marshall, gave pupils a classroom presentation on Viking history, covering food, fashion, transport, and weaponry. He also explained how Stormbird’s construction, using original Viking designs, has played a vital role in supporting the mental health of veterans. “The visit of The Viking Boat Company, funded by Darlington Lions, was a great way to reinforce that message. Not only was it a wonderful history lesson, but it’s so valuable for children to hear positive messages on mental health from outside sources and through lived experience.”
