The video, shared by ViralHog, shows a husband and wife kayaking near English Harbour in Newfoundland and Labrador when the massive whale unexpectedly rises from the water just feet away from them. The encounter is so close — and so sudden — that the man filming can be heard repeatedly shouting, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,” as the water churns around their kayaks. “My wife and I were sea kayaking off the coast of English Harbour,” the man explained to ViralHog. He explained that the waters that day were unusually active, filled with bait fish that had attracted multiple humpback whales feeding on herring. Despite the shock, the couple manages to stay upright as the whale slips back beneath the surface.
