CAPE TOWN – Former Crime Intelligence Finance Head Tiyani Hlungwani has alleged widespread corruption within the police service. In an exchange with the Committee’s chairperson, Molapi Lekganyane, Hlungwani said there are plenty of rotten apples within SAPS. The divisions are caused by the battle for control of Crime Intelligence and the Secret Services account. The biggest risk is the management of both the police and Crime Intelligence,” he told Parliament. Hlungwani, who controlled the secret services account, also accused senior officials of corruption and misuse of public funds.
