“Apart from a couple of school discos with bands at Strathaven Academy, that’s the only time I’ve played in the town,” says the frontman of Scottish 90s rockers The Almighty, with a smile. “I cannot tell you how much it meant to me, that so many people wanted to come out and see the shows. “There were always albums lying around, and Top of the Pops was on religiously on a Thursday night,” he recalls. “It’s where my friendship with Floyd and Stump (London and Monroe, Ricky’s Almighty band members) was formed. In 2012, he became the new frontman of the reformed Thin Lizzy, a band he had admired greatly since his teenage years.
