A woman has been charged with murder after a one-year-old girl was rushed to hospital with 'serious injuries'. Jayla-Jean Mclaren died on August 3 last year after being taken to hospital 48 hours earlier. A 31-year-old man from Newport was previously arrested on suspicion of murder and causing or allowing the death of a child. Jayla-Jean McLaren (pictured) was taken to hospital on the morning of August 1, 2025 after suffering serious injuries. People gathered to leave flowers, balloons, teddies and photographs under a tree in Church Litten Park following Jayla-Jean's death.
