New Newscast to Launch in Atlanta
['Scott Jones']
FTVLive
CBS has officially launched a morning news block at its owned-and-operated station in Atlanta (WUPA), intensifying competition in the nation’s sixth-largest media market.
The new one-hour program, titled CBS News Atlanta Mornings, serves as the latest step in a broader capital and editorial investment by CBS Stations to establish a robust news presence at the outlet.
The format will heavily utilize the station's new AR/VR studio—the ninth of its kind within the CBS Station group—to present data and weather in an immersive format.
The show will be fronted by anchor Jobina Fortson-Evans, traffic anchor Alexa Liacko, and meteorologist Troy Bridges, with Kaley Fedko reporting from the field.
Station President and General Manager Tom Canedo stated the goal is to pair neighborhood-level reporting with broader CBS News resources.
