Struggling to sleep last night, random reasons that make Britain so grotty and why its population should be embarrassed kept popping into my head. It must be bad because people are so quick to praise their latest holiday destination as being “so clean there.”Not like here. The irony of seeing union flags fluttering on lamp posts supposedly demonstrating huge national pride in our great with piles of litter beneath. No beach or countryside walk is litter-free, and seeing streams clogged with dumped items is heartbreaking. Fair does to McDonald’s, whose discarded packaging forms many rotting cardboard hillocks as they are chucked from car windows.
