(ABC 6 News) – Since the beginning of Operation Metro Surge, ICE agents have flooded into the state. On Thursday, the Minnesota Senate Subcommittee on Federal Impacts to Minnesotans and Economic Stability held a hearing detailing the impacts of ICE operations on the state, its communities, and its people leading up to and since those deaths. In healthcare, people have been afraid to seek medical help for fear of being detained by ICE. In response to violence on the streets between ICE agents, their targets and protestors, childcare professionals have had to balance managing the children they watch and their own fear. “That said, I’m not here because of the federal government has carried this mission out perfectly.”Homan promised major changes would be coming, including an eventual “draw down” of the number of federal agents within the state.
