AUSTRALIA’S wool spot or auction market pulled back this week, bringing a more cautious tone to forward trading, particularly where quality and test results were less reliable. However, forward enquiry has stayed active, with buyers still prepared to lock in March positions around the 2000c/kg mark (depending on micron), and pricing continuing to favour better presented wool. On Wednesday 28 January, the AWEX Eastern Market Indicator closed at 1662c/kg clean (down 27c from 21 January). Buyers were pickier, and pricing was more sensitive to test results and overall quality. Forward market forward levels (c/kg) this weekCompleted trades this weekSource – Southern Aurora Markets.
