Steamboat Springs Police arrested a local man for allegedly possessing 11 photos of child sexual abuse material, according to the affidavit for arrest. Marcus Brown, 24, of Steamboat Springs, was arrested Jan. 23 and charged with sexual exploitation of a child, a Class 5 felony. The officer followed Brown to the hospital, and after he was medically cleared for jail, the officer placed Brown under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia. On Oct. 31, a search warrant was approved to search Brown’s phone for evidence of sexual exploitation of a child from June 1-July 1, 2025. The search was conducted five days later and Steamboat Springs police found “11 images of sexual exploitative material of children approximately 5-13 years of age,” the affidavit states.
