Colorado Mountain College is seeking an artist to create a large-scale mural inside the Steamboat Springs campus’s main stairwell, with an honorarium of up to $8,000 for the selected proposal, according to a Thursday news release. Created in partnership with Steamboat Creates, the project aims to transform the stairwell connecting social and classroom spaces into an area that inspires reflection and creativity. The call is open to both emerging and established artists experienced in large-scale or mural work, and applicants may submit up to three design concepts. The honorarium amount will be determined based on detail, artist experience and the cost of materials. Applications are due Feb. 20, and the selected artist will have from March 6-15 to install the mural.
