Extension Educator First To File For The OfficeCandidate filings for the 2026 primary election continue in Kimball County, with Jamie Bright officially filing for the position of Kimball County Clerk of the District Court Bright currently works for the Kimball County Extension Office and is the first candidate to file for the position following the announcement that longtime Clerk of the District Court Deb Diemoz will not seek re-election.
Bright said her decision to file was driven by a desire to serve the community and support the stability and accessibility of local government.
“My top priorities would be maintaining accurate, well-organized court records and ensuring the office is approachable and easy for the public to navigate.”Bright noted that while the court clerk often works behind the scenes, the position plays a critical role in how the justice system functions.
Although she did not grow up in Kimball County, Bright said it has been home for the past 15 years.
As of the present time, Bright remains the only candidate filed for clerk of the district court, and no other new filings had been submitted since the Observer’s previous report.
