The Federal Government will spend more than $40 million to establish a new clinical network aimed at giving sufferers of motor neurone disease (MND) access to more treatment trials. Named after 2025 Australian of the Year and AFL legend, Neale Daniher, the national MND clinical network is being framed as both a major boost to clinical research and a legacy for one of Australia’s most prominent advocates for people living with motor neurone disease. The funding will support FightMND to establish the national network, which will work to expand access to clinical trials, attract global drug studies to Australia and improve care and outcomes for people with MND. Health Minister Mark Butler said the investment reflected both the severity of the disease and the impact of Neale Daniher’s advocacy.
