A driver died after his vehicle collided with an Amtrak Downeaster train in North Berwick on Thursday. The driver of a pickup truck was declared dead at the scene, North Berwick Police Chief Stephen Peasley said in a phone interview Thursday night. Peasley said the gates were working properly, “so that wasn’t an issue.”The driver was the only person in the vehicle, Peasley said. The road was reopened as of about 6:15 p.m., according to an update from North Berwick police.
