By Emmanuel Wise JipohMonrovia, January 30, 2026: The Ministry of Labor has taken decisive action to strengthen workplace standards at China Railway Development, issuing a series of recommendations to improve workers’ conditions.
At a conference held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, the ministry instructed China Railway Development’s management to implement several key changes.
The Ministry also urged China Railway Development to appoint a Liberian Human Resource Manager within one week.
China Railway Development, a subcontractor of Bao-CHI-CO—a mining company operating in Gbarpolu County—is responsible for constructing a railway corridor in Gbarpolu and a port facility in Bomi County.
It could be recalled that the Ministry of Labor recently summoned the management of both Bao-CHI-CO and China Railway Development to a high-level conference to address critical issues in labor administration and workplace standards.
