-burst conductor, damaged panel knocked powership offlineThe Guyana Power and Light (GPL) was hit by another major disruption yesterday leaving customers infuriated at the ongoing problems despite promises by the government of improved service. The latest disruption occurred early yesterday morning when a fault on the Demerara-Berbice Interconnected System resulted in widespread outages in Ber-bice and sections of Demerara. According to GPL, the disturbance was caused by a burst conductor on the L22 transmission line between Canefield and No. 53 Village, along with a damaged transformer panel at the Onverwagt substation. However, customers between Onverwagt and Ithaca remained without power due to the damaged transformer panel, with repairs ongoing.
