A 43-year old Guatemalan national living in northwest Missouri has pleaded guilty to using another man’s identity for over a decade to live and work in the United States. Romeo Perez-Bravo admitted to aggravated identity theft and illegally re-entering the country after a prior felony conviction. He used the stolen identity to obtain jobs in St. Joseph and multiple Missouri-issued identification cards. Perez-Bravo faces a mandatory two-year prison sentence for identity theft and up to 10 years for illegal re-entry, with consecutive sentences required. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after a presentence investigation is completed.
