BADGER – A town in central Newfoundland has ordered residents along several streets to evacuate after declaring a state of emergency due to flooding. A flood warning had been in effect in Badger on Thursday as water levels remained dangerously high in and around the town. Mayor Dennis Butt said earlier in the day that he’d been informed water levels had peaked on the Exploits River, and Badger Brook was trending down. Late Thursday, all residents in Badger on Beothuk Street, Earle Street, Kinsman Drive, Main Street, Park Street, River Road and Sheppard Street were ordered to leave. Residents who live on the north side of Badger Drive, or all even civic numbers, must also evacuate, along with residents of Maple Street, civic numbers 34-76 and 33-99 inclusive.
