Carl Ian Jones, of Hale, was one of three 'extremely dangerous' men jailed at Bolton Crown Court on Thursday (January 29) following an investigation by the National Crime Agency. The 59-year-old's crimes came to light after the encrypted messaging service Encrochat, used by organised crime gangs across the world, was hacked by police. Messages intercepted by the NCA showed Jones, who went by the EncroChat handle ‘stalehead’, tried to broker a deal over an AR15 assault rifle complete with 50 bullets. Meanwhile Jones and another drug dealer - Harly Wise, of London - also discussed trading firearms including AK47s and an Uzi submachine gun.
