The argument that Fuentes should be taken seriously because he “articulates the grievances of young white men” mistakes explanation for justification. Yes, many young men feel disoriented, economically insecure and socially resentful. White men, including conservative ones, continue to dominate political office, corporate leadership, media ownership and institutional authority in the United States. Movements like Black Lives Matter and LGBTQIA+ advocacy did not “push white men to the side.” They responded to specific, documented violence and exclusion. Young white men do not need Fuentes.
