River Island previously said it has been hit hard by the rise in ultra-cheap fast fashion and lower customer spending. ‌CEO of River Island, Ben Lewis said: "We are pleased that River Island's restructuring plan has been approved by the High Court. River Island employs around 5,500 people in England and Ireland and was founded in 1948 under the Lewis and Chelsea Girl brand before being renamed in the 1980s.
