The 63-year-old writer has enjoyed huge success with the hit BBC drama series - but Heidi believes Call the Midwife requires continual change. ‌Writer Heidi Thomas, who hails from Garston, says change is critical for the show and she enjoys the challenge of writing new stories for the beloved characters in Poplar. "The whole point is, it's about change and challenge – and the series itself looks to the future, so it very much brings an era to an end." ‌Meanwhile, Heidi previously announced plans to make a Call the Midwife prequel series.
