INTERIM DOCKETLawyers for the state of California on Thursday urged the Supreme Court to leave in place a new congressional map intended to give Democrats five additional seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. In August, the California Legislature adopted the Election Rigging Response Act to create a congressional map with five new Democratic seats. A group of California Republicans went to court three days later, seeking to block the use of the map. A divided three-judge district court in Los Angeles declined to do so. Two days later, the Trump administration (which had also sought to block the new map in the district court) filed a brief supporting the challengers’ request.
