As hazardous winter weather conditions continue across much of the state, multiple school districts and colleges have announced closures or operational changes, citing icy roads and unsafe travel conditions. Officials with Lyon College say the Batesville campus will remain open and classes will be in session on Friday, January 30. However, faculty, staff, and commuter students are urged to use extreme caution when traveling due to lingering road hazards. Several campuses within the Arkansas State University system have announced closures, including ASU – Searcy, which will remain closed. In addition, numerous K-12 school districts across Central and North Arkansas have canceled classes as winter weather continues to impact roadways and transportation routes.
