MANSFIELD — The Mansfield/Richland County Public Library invites the community to its annual Black History Celebration, a free, family-friendly event honoring Black history, culture and achievement. This year’s celebration carries special significance as February 2026 marks the 100thanniversary of Black History celebrations in the United States. The observance began in 1926 as Negro History Week, founded by historian Carter G. Woodson, and later expanded into Black History Month in 1976 when it was formally recognized under President Gerald Ford. MRCPL will continue honoring Black History Month with special programming.
