Baptist Health South Florida (Coral Gables, Fla.) held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on Baptist Health Sunrise Hospital in Sunrise, Fla., according to a news release. The project comprises a 7-story, 340,000-square-foot hospital, 25,000-square-foot medical office building (MOB), and 5-story parking garage. According to Baptist Health, the project represents Florida’s first all-electric medical facility, with integrated solar panels to help generate clean power, and is estimated to cost $500 million project. The site for the new hospital campus is on 26 acres with approximately 15 acres designated as a conservation easement, protecting existing wetlands.
