Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities responded to power outages and an emergency water main break following the weekend’s winter weather, which included snow and extreme cold temperatures. Around 4:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, several power outages were reported in Sikeston. “We experienced an unexpected outage affecting Sikeston BMU customers,” Sikeston BMU said via social media. The outage was caused by a broken static wire on a 69 kV transmission line, which created a fault on the system. Repairs were finished by 1 a.m. Tuesday, and South Ingram Road reopened to traffic, according to BMU.
