NIU’s Campus Sustainability department, the Institute for the Study of Environment, Sustainability and Energy (ESE), and the Northern Illinois Center for Community Sustainability (NICCS) are the hosts of monthly discussions regarding how to get involved with sustainability on and off campus. The monthly series is titled “Sustainability at NIU: Calling All Huskies.”Holly Hansen, assistant director of campus sustainability, explained the benefits of sustainable practices at NIU. “For NIU, sustainability has a lot of great benefits. The meetings typically start out with updates about projects that are happening through campus sustainability and then dive into conversations and collaboration.
