Napa County supervisors this week favored a plan to bring more rumble strips to the county’s unincorporated roads, with a particular focus on the heavily-traveled Silverado Trail. Napa County is no stranger to the strips, which can be found largely on the Caltrans-managed Highway 29 that runs through the Napa Valley parallel to Silverado Trail. California Highway Patrol data recorded 273 collisions during the 2024-25 fiscal year in unincorporated Napa County, and 160 of those were single-vehicle. That’s also the case for Silverado Trail, Lederer said, which saw 79 collisions in 2024-25. Kara Vernor, executive director of the Napa County Bicycle Coalition, called for the installation of rumble strips along all of Silverado Trail.
