North Bay businesses, some schools join national shutdown Friday to protest ICE operations
['Isabel Beer']
News – The Press Democrat
Sponsors of the “National Shutdown” movement include a coalition of community groups, student organizations and labor unions that endorse refraining from typical activities as a form of protest.
Demonstrators nationwide are urging lawmakers to vote against funding for ICE and to call for broader changes in immigration enforcement policy.
Several local businesses posted on social media this week about their participation or support.
Similarly, the Napa Bookmine said it will stay open but begin a fundraising effort connected to the shutdown.
