ActionSA has announced that it will abstain from a motion of no confidence facing Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero on Thursday (29 January). On Wednesday, the city’s political management committee (PMC), which manages the current coalition, requested the ANC to request Morero to resign. Earlier this week, the ANC said it would ask coalition partners to withdraw the motion. “Should this not occur, the ANC caucus will be directed to oppose the motion in coordination with coalition partners,” ANC Johannesburg Secretary Sasa Manganye said. Morero’s position is more vulnerable now after he lost the ANC Johannesburg region chairperson contest to Loyiso Masuku recently.
